Introduction to Shehvoo Ocean Clay
Here we are today, feeling very grateful to have Dre Drexler, founder of Shehvoo, who reached out to give us his recently launched hair care product range a try. We were very excited as we heard many good things about it and finally, we got them in our hands! The Shevoo Ocean Clay is their first-ever product in the market.

Shehvoo – which means “hair” in french, aims to provide a healthier alternative to everyday hair care products. Dre Drexler who is a Youtuber, has been very experienced in review grooming and styling product. With his knowledge and together with his brother – David, they decided to design more natural hair care products. After a few months of hustling, they have launched two main products – namely the Activating Oil Cleanser (Shampoo + Conditioner) and the Ocean Clay hair styling product

In this review we will be looking at the Ocean Clay. We have done a couple of reviews for clay products (mostly fusion with pomades) – Arcadian Clay Pomade, Jack Henry Clay Pomade, Kevin Murphy’s Rough Rider and Orient Clay Pomade. These were great products. However, we wonder if there’s a product that feels even more natural and holds better. Let’s just storm into the Ocean Clay for a review!

Design
This design is very simple, similar to a salon standard hair product packaging. Housed in a semi transparent plastic bottle and capped with a aluminium coated plastic cover. Feels very light as it weighs at 56g (2 oz). On its labeling , it has a mark of assurance that the ingredients are sulfate and parabens free, cruelty free (from animal testing). Also, this product is also designed to have a firm hold and a natural shine look. Infused with organic ingredients and Brazilian sea water, we are excited to see how this will turn out!
Scent
Fruity Pineapple and Guave. Feel fresh, slight masculine and pleasant. Not over powering.
Texture & Application of Shehvoo Ocean clay
For this test, I had my hair blow dry first, as always.
It has a dark yellowish color. The texture is soft and slightly thick. To be honest, it does reminds me of Morris Motley’s treatment styling balm. It is easy to be scooped out and does feel a little sticky, but does not feel too greasy. I used around 3 dime-sized scoops for good coverage.
After rubbing on my palm and fingers, applying my hair was very easy. Either using a comb or fingers will do the job just fine. It doesn’t have any resistance, pulling when combing back. This is a great trait as most clay does have a certain hold feature that causes some tugging. As expected, it is medium shine and it feels very natural and soft to the hair. Its glycerin content is the moisturizing ingredient that makes the hair feel light, soft and easy for restyling.
Shine
Medium Shine
Strength & Endurance
- Medium Strong Hold
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor activities
- Lasted almost the whole day without needing to restyle, however can be easily restyled by finger-comb
- Feels soft on the hair at end of day.
Front View: 8 A.M. (Before)
Easy styling. Fingers or comb will do the job well
Front View: 8 P.M. (After)
Without restyling. It still hold pretty well. Using fingers will calm the cowlick down
Side View: 8 A.M. (Before)
Slick and Sharp
Side View: 8 P.M. (After)
Holds toned down just a little but restyling keeps it back in place.
Washability
Washing out is medium easy. Around 2 rounds of shampoo and conditioner for complete removal.
However, if you want to have your style remain for the next day, the Activating Oil Cleanser will be enough to wash your the necessary dirt and keep your hair moisturized.

Verdict of the shehvoo ocean clay
This is one of the better clays I have ever used. Feels soft, natural and the scent was refreshing. In terms of hold, at least in the humid and hot climate, its performance is commendable and holds throughout the day. I hardly need to restyle. Due to the humid weather, it won’t give your a lot of volume, just enough. For greater volume, I would recommend the Goldfingers’s Matte Paste or Morris Motley’s Treatment Balm. Together with the Activating Oil Cleanser, it is actually the best combination to keep your hair soft and moisturized.
All in all, a thumbs up for Dre Drexler and David for this great product!
