Introduction to Goldfingers Matte Paste

From the first product review and up till now, we have tested all products from around the world but none of them from Singapore. Based on my experience, it’s not easy to find a suitable for the hot and humid climate in Singapore. So far, Morris Motley’s treatment styling balm is the only product that is near to perfection.

However, today we have finally get our hands on a home breed hair product brand – Goldfingers Company. The Founder, Terrence T was inspired to produce his own formula as he understood that both asian’s thick hair texture and climate played a huge difference in crafting hair styling products. After 15 months of experimentation, he finally formulated his product to combat the tropical climate with great hold and versatility.

In this piece, we will cover the Matte Paste, while in a few days time we will get into Goldfingers Pomade Review.

Let’s dive in!

Texture & Application

For this test, I had my hair blow dry first.

I would say the texture is similar to a hair cream but less oily and more dense. Scooping it out from the bottle was easy. With a pea sized amount, just rub it on your palms and start styling with your fingers (don’t worry it won’t turn your fingers to gold) or comb. It was easy to style as the texture is very soft and easily spread throughout. You wouldn’t need much of it as its effect is quite strong.

After a few seconds leaving my hair still, the strong hold starts kicking in. It does feel a bit dry but definitely the hold is pretty strong. Restyling wasn’t easy with finger as the hair tends to hold and stick together. I would advice to restyle with some water together with comb to ensure the process is smooth and slick. But with the hold, I wouldn’t think you need to restyle that often.
