Ever have that one bluntly honest buddy pointed out your stray, overgrown nose hairs? “Hey bro, you have a nose hair sticking out.”
Still, as you get older, you might find yourself dealing with these somewhat embarrassing stray hairs in awkward places. Not just nose hair, but ear hair and overgrown eyebrows too.
Unlike many other types of body hair, nose hair plays a functional role in your body’s health. In this case, it ensures that dust and other particles are blocked from traveling up your nose and deeper into your respiratory system.
Still, overgrown nose hairs don’t necessarily do better than hairs that stay well out of sight. This means that with a bit of grooming, you can have the best of both worlds.
The least painful and most convenient option is a nose hair trimmer to tidy up your nose hairs. These are (with some exceptions) electric-powered devices that have a rotating scissor blade within a circular casing. When activated, these scissor-blades can cut nose hairs safely and painlessly.
While extremely cheap options exist in the market, it’s worth spending a bit more on a quality set of trimmers. Trimmers that improperly cut hairs can leave uncomfortable stubble behind or, even worse, lead to ingrown hairs. (We will address how to deal with such issues at the end of this article.) Furthermore, some trimmers have other attachments which help you in other areas of grooming.
We’ve compiled a list of the best nose hair trimmers for men currently on the market. Have a look and pick the best one for you.

Best Nose Hair Trimmers for Men 2021
We would probably be remiss in not starting this list with The Weed WhackerTM, the famous men’s grooming company MANSCAPEDTM.
The Weed Whacker boasts MANSCAPEDTM’s trademarked SkinSafeTM technology in its cutting tool, which claims to reduce nicks and ingrown hairs. It also has a rechargeable battery, unlike many others on this list which require replaceable ones. Lastly, the Weed WhackerTM is waterproof. This makes it easy to wash out or even use in the shower.
That said, The Weed WhackerTM is one of the more expensive items on this list. A vocal minority has also claimed that it lacks cutting power and is thus a sub-par product. This is perhaps due to the very same SkinSafeTM technology that makes it easy on your nostrils – there are virtually no complaints about getting nicks or scrapes from it. It is important to note, however, that many more have had great experiences with the product.
If you’re squeamish about possible pain and want a product that is low maintenance and solely focuses on trimming your nostrils and maybe earholes, consider MANSCAPEDTM’s The Weed WhackerTM.
This product offering from veteran grooming brand Wahl is shaped like a pen. As such, it is both ergonomic and easy to store. The latter function means that it makes for an ideal travel item. Powered by a single AAA battery, the product boasts a long battery life. Even with frequent usage, expect it to last for months before needing a change.
In addition to the nose hair trimmer, the Groomsman has two other attachments: a detail trimmer and an eyebrow guide comb.
The detail trimmer allows you to trim areas like sideburns and the back of your neck – places that need a bit more finesse and control than normal hair clippers.
On the other hand, the eyebrow guide comb helps to ensure that your eyebrows look neat and tidy, an often-overlooked aspect of grooming.
However, note that the Groomsman can be fragile and may break irreparably if you drop it.
If you want a versatile and portable grooming item, do give the Groomsman a spin.
SCHON’s 3-in-1 trimmer is a hardy product that resists rust and staining with its stainless steel body and blade attachments. While you probably don’t want to test its waterproofing too far, being able to wash it clean with running water together with its chargeable battery makes it a cheaper option than The Weed Whacker. In addition, SCHON’s product boasts two more attachments than its rival from MANSCAPED.
The two extra attachments are an ear hair trimmer, as well as a hair trimmer. The former looks suspiciously like the nose hair trimmer attachment but excels in eliminating any stray hairs that may be growing around your ears. While not as powerful as dedicated clippers, the latter helps immensely when trim sideburns and around your ear.
Other accessories that come with the SCHON are a cover for the nose hair trimmer and a soft bag to store all the attachments, and the trimmer itself. Talk about going the extra mile!
Cutting power aside, some find the locking mechanism for the various attachments to be a bit flimsy—a little ironic given the sturdiness of the metal casing being ‘built-to-last.
We did recommend going for quality over savings for an item like this, but the fact that this item garners such a high positive-to-negative ratio warrants paying it some attention.
Though Zorami is a little-known Chinese company, by most accounts, it produces a trimmer that is durable and effective. It is powered by a single AA battery and lasts several months before needing a change. It is also waterproof and thus easy to clean with a quick rinse.
A unique selling point of the Zorami trimmer is that it is relatively quieter than other nose hair trimmers for men due to its more efficient use of energy. If you are self-conscious and don’t want your housemates to wonder what the sound coming from the bathroom is, try this little guy out.
Fair warning, though, there are very rare but documented cases of people being shipped a defective product. While it does seem unlikely, do keep this in mind when deciding to purchase this affordable option.
This product from beauty and grooming company Conair has a strikingly different cutting attachment from the usual cylindrical heads seen in other nose hair trimmers for men. The mushroom head-looking attachment consists of a beveled blade which some may find a more effective cutting tool than the dual-bladed rotary cutters in conventional trimmers.
Other accessories include a carrying bag for travel (which the compact size of the trimmer helps facilitate) and a hair trimmer attachment.
A single AA battery powers the ConairMAN.
While many agree that the bevel blade is an effective and precise cutting tool, there is a caveat. The ConairMAN, for some reason, is a lot noisier than other trimmers, which can make putting it in close proximity to your eardrums when trimming stray hairs around your ear a grating experience.
Still, hairier men might want to try this more powerful and precise trimmer to keep themselves well-groomed.
If you hate brushing out nose hair particles from your trimmer with the small brush provided with most products, this Panasonic model might be just the thing for you.
The ER430K is the only offering on this list with a built-in vacuum system. This means that as you’re cutting your nose and ear hairs, the internal vacuum will suck up the cut hairs into a removable chamber to be emptied later. This also has the benefit of not leaving stray hairs in your nose after cutting.
Cleaning the ER430K is thus a breeze compared to other trimmers, especially with its waterproofing.
There is one significant drawback, however. The blade attachments for this Panasonic product tend to go dull very fast, which might cause them to tug on your hair when cutting. The excellent news: replacement blades are available.
The bad news: they’re quite expensive at USD 13 before shipping. Those used to paying out the nose (pun intended) for replacement Gillette shaving cartridges might start shuddering in horror.
Worse, others report their machines to start to fail within months. Not a sustainable choice, it would seem for this one.
Still, its unique cleaning mechanism makes the ER430K worth mentioning to those willing to bear the costs. Here’s hoping that future iterations of the product fix the lifespan issue.
This ToiletTree Trimmer comes with an LED light to help you see what’s going on in the darkness of your nostrils as it does its work. This helps ensure more precise grooming and ensures that all stray hairs get cut.
Like many other nose hair trimmers for men, ToiletTree’s product is water-resistant and has stainless steel cutting blades, making it easy to clean. The blades also seem to rotate faster than other trimmers, lending more cutting power.
However, the trimmer can be a bit fiddly. The switch which operates the trimmer sometimes falls apart, making using it somewhat inconvenient. The upside is that ToiletTree has a reputation for good customer service – quick responses and replacement of faulty items.
If you dislike applying the trimmer up your nostril randomly and using the sounds of nose hairs being cut as a gauge for how long you have to apply the trimmer, definitely check out this ToiletTree product.
The wonderfully named ‘Golden Birdie’ by Korean company Royal is a unique trimmer on this list. Why do you ask?
Because it is manual.
The way this trimmer works is that you squeeze the handles to turn the blades in the cylinder. The cylinder contains more blades than the average electric trimmer to compensate for the lack of mechanized power. Twelve, to be exact. A far cry from the two blades found in most electric nose hair trimmers for men.
The Golden Birdie eliminates virtually every downside people have with electric trimmers. It works noiselessly and requires no batteries, rechargeable or otherwise. A hypoallergenic plating of gold (possibly a gold alloy?) reduces irritation for those with sensitive skin. Without the need to rely on circuitry, it should also last longer than an electric trimmer.
Giving this trimmer a thorough clean involves some disassembly. However, once you unscrew the big thumbscrew, the disassembly and subsequent reassembly process are relatively straightforward. A good cleaning might be the first thing you do upon receiving this product, as the inner components can be oily from production. A good rinse with soap will help the trimmer operate more smoothly. Just make sure the pieces are properly dry before reassembly.
Besides being an exciting product, the Golden Birdie makes a good travel trimmer due to its compact size and non-reliance on battery power. It also makes for a good ‘back-up’ trimmer should an electric one break down.
At the beginning of the article, a good nose hair trimmer should be the exact opposite of our obnoxious friend: subtle and reliable. Everyone’s nose hairs grow at a different rate, so you want one that is long-lasting and effective whenever you need it.
If you have the misfortune of getting ingrown nose hair, the important thing is to prevent infection. This means not picking at it any further. Pressing a warm towel to the affected nostril can also help to reduce swelling. If the swelling or pain increases with time, do consult a doctor.
Hopefully, this article has been helpful and good luck in expanding your grooming arsenal!
